This past week has been the 25th anniversary of Belize independence. We have been working so hard we decided to take a couple of days off and do some exploring in our neighborhood. Of course we are such workaholics we could not take off completely. We spent the mornings working and afternoons going in a radius of ten miles from the village. We visited some magnificent lodges / retreats near to us. One being “ Blancaneaux Lodge” which is owned by Francis Ford Coppola (director of the Godfather, Vietnam War, Apocalypse Now). There were a group of writers from the USA at the lodge doing some short story writing but also having lots of fun. We also visited “Five Sisters Lodge” which was also very well groomed. We spent time visiting other folks whom we like and admire who moved to Belize for a slower pace. We all seem to be working much harder than when we were in our home countries. Here the work gives us much joy and satisfaction. We are very tired at the end of a day but we sure can see why we are tired .We then get so refreshed just standing on the land, soaring on the wind. There is so much power, when I allow nature to transport me to another realm. There is power all around me, I stand alone, touching the sound of silence as the night enfolds me and nothing disturb the sound of silence not even the peenie wallies (fire flies). I cannot explain what is happening all I know is that it is right. The expanse of the sky, the magnitude of clouds, the brilliant colours of the sunsets, the enormous stars have given me the key to living. I am slowly learning to let go. I am safe and happy

That is sooo very special. We are right there with you. God put this special piece of land here for us to enjoy, enjoy, enjoy–here, we are not humans doing–we are humans being.
